Lillington NHS Healthcare Centre, Leamington Spa – Deeley Group

We’ve recently completed another prestigious healthcare development project on behalf of our long term Client, Deeley Group in Coventry.

The new building has been erected on the site of a former dwelling and will serve as a local health hub for the Warwickshire communities of Lillington and Cubbington.  The facility will provide much needed medical support, primary care services and advice for residents in area where population growth is increasing fast.

Following the demolition of the existing property and subsequent clearance of the site, we got to work on the groundworks elements to prepare the plot for subsequent development.

The project consisted of the following elements:

• Groundworks
• Foundations & drainage installation
• Services
• External works including lighting, cycle shelter, boundary fencing and retaining walls
• Access paving and car parking
• Soft landscaping.

The project was completed and successfully handed back to our client in April 2024 and the new facility will now start to deliver much needed NHS healthcare support to the people of the local area.

Large Commercial Units, Huntingdon – GMI Construction Group

At the beginning of April 2023, we commenced work on this new groundworks project in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire on behalf of brand new client, GMI Construction Group

The first stage of work required site clearance and extensive cut and fill, utilising the excess material to level the site and at the same time minimising the amount of waste material that needed to be removed from the project. During the first phase of the project, the site team also installed three large attenuation tanks to aid the effective and efficient removal of storm water into the drainage system.

The scope of works included:

• Cut and Fill
• Groundworks
• Installation of 3 large storm water attenuation tanks
• Services
• External works & soft landscaping.

The project was completed and successfully handed back to the Client GMI Construction Group, on time and within the budget in January 2024.

Exhall Triangle Commercial Units, Coventry – Deeley Group

At the beginning of 2023, work commenced on a brand new commercial unit building development in Exhall, Coventry.  The project would see 10 brand new industrial commercial units, boasting the highest sustainability credentials, be built on a former open farmland plot close to the M6 motorway.

Working on behalf of our long term client, Deeley Group, the project commenced in February with the expectation that the work would be completed and ready by the end of the year. The scheme involved:

• Site clearance
• Groundworks
• Installation of waste and storm water drainage
• Services
• High quality external works.

The team were faced with the significant issue of working safely around a 400kv overhead power line that traversed the site and an electricity pylon located in the middle of the plot.

Logistics Business Park Unit, Wellingborough – Benniman Construction

This latest expansive project in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire on behalf of our Client, Benniman Construction, kicked off in early 2023 and saw the next phase of construction on a huge logistics site close to the A14.

The scope of work on this huge site would enable us to demonstrate our full expertise of groundworks, earthworks and civil engineering skills before handing the site back to the Client. Upon completion, the new 345,000 sq ft building boasts offices, multiple delivery loading bays, car parking and soft landscaped perimeter areas.

Our on-site services included:

• Site clearance
• Cut and fill
• Stabilisation
• Foundations & drainage
• External and internal concrete slabs.
• Site access and roadways
• Car parking and soft landscaping.

The final stages of the project saw us complete the pouring of the extensive concrete slabs both inside the building and to the external yard and delivery loading bays. At the same time the site team commenced the installation of the soft landscaping around the site as the contract completion date approached.

Starbucks Drive-Thru Coffee Outlet, Banbury – Paloma Capital & Graftongate

In a project that tested M&T Midlands to the fullest, we completed a project in July 2023 for Clients, Paloma Capital and Graftongate to work on the groundworks, services and external works for a brand new Starbucks Coffee Drive-Thru Outlet in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

During construction, the project was thrown into disarray when the initial main contractor suddenly filed for administration, leaving the project in a precarious position and at risk of being cancelled. M&T Midlands Managing Director, Matt Greevy stepped in to rescue the project and assumed main contractor responsibility to ensure that the project reached a successful conclusion for the Clients.

• High quality external works including soft landscaping, car parking and roadway access.

The project gave M&T the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to work through difficult situations and find resolutions to ensure that projects are completed are on time and on budget.

Shultern Lane Student Accommodation, Coventry – RBC Construction

The University of Warwick’s board of directors devised a master-plan that would aim to enhance the student experience massively. Part of this plan was to build additional, modernised student accommodation on campus.

RBC construction provided us with the groundworks package, where our works were as follows:

• Installation of reinforced concrete ground beams with
  26 tonnes of steel
• Ground heave precautions
• Formation of a concrete lift pit
• Drainage
• Services and external works.

Because our job was complicated to perform, a scheme was devised to maximize space on site due to our limited access to it. This helped us complete the project on time.

Pershore College, Worcestershire – Deeley Construction

M&T Midlands were awarded the groundworks package for the redevelopment of Pershore College. This specific redevelopment aimed to give students a fresh perspective on the tech industry, with new and improved facilities such as a STEM center, event spaces and conference rooms.

Since we were required to undertake our works in a busy, student environment, we had to ensure that strict health and safety measures were followed at all times, including enforcing rules that required lorries to only operate during the quieter hours of the day.

Our works, included: the installation of a technically challenging reinforced concrete tank, foundations for the building, drainage, services and an extensive external works package.

King Edward VI School, Stratford upon Avon – Deeley Construction

Due to a demand in education developments, King Edward VI school required a new building on their site for facilities such as additional classrooms, IT rooms and a library. M&T Midlands were contacted to provide our groundworks services for this project.

This particular job was not an easy ride. A program was devised in order to keep noise and disruption levels to a bare minimum so that students and teachers were not disturbed during lessons.

On top of that, accessing the site itself became a problem, as the proposed site lay on an already existing car park that sat between two buildings.

Nevertheless, our hardworking team delivered, both promptly and to a high standard.

Our works, included: service and drainage diversions breaking out of the existing carpark, reduce level dig, installation of the foundations and bolts for the steel frame, installation of drainage and services, formation of a concrete slab to the ground floor and infilling, and precast concrete planks to levels 1 and 2.

Holland & Barrett HQ Car Park, Nuneaton – Deeley Construction

 

Due to the ever rising success of their business, 52,000 square feet of extra commercial land was proposed by Holland and Barrett for Deeley’s to construct.

We undertook the contracted work to aid with the development of the car park for the new 80+ members of staff who were to be appointed at the new offices.

However, this project came to us with an additional challenge, as other business nearby were working alongside us, and we were tasked with creating a traffic management scheme that ensured that both the job’s completion to the allocated time as well as minimal disruption.

Our work included: excavations and filling to make up the levels, installation of drainage, a large attenuation tank and external works.

Warwickshire College, Leamington Spa – Deeley Construction

When a rather large increase in the number of students required to live near campus became a priority for Warwickshire college, they decided to build 100 extra units at the New Road campus.

This project was somewhat hard to manage due to the lively student atmosphere present on site, meaning that M&T were also tasked with developing a plan in order to make sure that our work did not disturb college activities.

Alongside our transport management plan, our works consisted of installation of drainage, services and a small external works package.

Airport Retail Park, Coventry – Deeley Construction

in 2019, M&T were given a new groundworks task from Deeley’s to aid with the construction of a brand new B&M Bargains store, proposed to create more customer attraction alongside the residing stores.

Since the area is a source of constant pedestrian and shopper activity, a very rigorous plan for the management of traffic was put in place to make sure that the correct health & safety procedures were followed. On top of this, our job clashed with the revamp of the Tollbar Island opposite the site, and further measurements were put into place.

Nevertheless, our skilled team of engineers pushed through the challenges promptly and the job was completed on time and to a high standard.

• extensive external concrete yard and paving to the perimeter

Nunnery Way, Worcester – Benniman Construction Group

Our works on this project had a number of phases, including:

• Traditional Foundation Works
• L-Shaped precast concrete retaining walls
• Deep Drainage
• Underground Services
• External Works
• Landscaping
• Footpaths & Kerbs

Despite stressful wet and windy weather conditions, these works were completed promptly and on time, and strict procedures were followed due to hazards concerning the overhead cables on site.

Sinclair Business Park, Evesham – Benniman Construction Group

M&T were tasked with the implementation of civil elements and groundworks for this new project by Ashfield Land. Retail companies such as Aldi, Home Bargains and TK Maxx were to be stationed upon 3 acres of commercial units in a £14m project.

Commencing our work back in November 2018, we carried out foundation work that entailed retaining wall, interceptors, concrete slabs and drainage. Additionally, we oversaw External works, steel furniture and paving onto the site.

After 8 months of hard work, we had completed the job on time.

Horiba Mira Automated Car Test Centre, Nuneaton – Deeley Construction

This £100 million UK C/AV site is a testing facility for high speed, urban and automated parking in test environments. These works were carried out on the AV valet parking and surrounding roundabouts.

Due to the premium nature of this job we adhered to meet the high specifications of materials set by the client.

We are proud to say this was another smoothly ran job which was finished on time.

New Housing Development, Long Compton- Avoncroft Homes Ltd.

Having worked with Avonscroft Homes Ltd on a number of contracts throughout the Midlands, we now sucessfully secured a larger contract in Long Compton.

The project consisted of 5 large prestigeous dwelling in the little village of Long Compton. Along with the dwellings are a spine road, private and adopted drainage, attenuation tank, headwall into existing local stream, services, external works including an environmentally friendly permeable carparking system.

The emphasis on the site was not upset the natural and local environment around the site, this included re cycling material where possible ensuring less deliveries to site, having control delivery periods outside busy times of the day thus minimalising the site traffic.

Geberit Headquarters, Warwick- Benniman Construction

Geberit is a European market leader in sanitary technology. Following the acquisition of Staffordshire business, Twyford, Geberit needed a new headquarters to support its growth strategy.

The new 22,500 sq ft, state-of-the-art office and training centre, is located at Tournament Fields, on the outskirts of Warwick.

 

Our works, on the construction of the new headquarters, consisted of an initial reduce level dig and the relocation of the surplus materials to a local green site. To reduce our impact on the environment, we developed an earthworks strategy to ensure all materials were recycled, removing the need for disposal to a landfill site.

 

Our package also included: the formation of concrete foundations, ground beams and a concrete floor slab, and the installation of internal and external drainage, including a large storage tank and attenuation system.

We also carried out a range of external works, including: tarmac surfacing, block paving and landscaping.

Lillington Free Church  New Development, Leamington Spa- Deeley Construction

Construction of 32 social housing developemnts, as well as a New Free Church in the heart of Lillington, Leamington Spa. This site is also where the existing old Free Church is located.

The new development site inherited a tight working environment including hazards such as; working around other trades, public and individuals still using the preexisting church during certain phases of the project.

Our works has several phases; traditional foundation works, deep drainage. As well as, installing two attenuation tanks, underground services, external works, landscaping and retaining walls.

A priority during this project was to ensure that minimal disruption was caused to the existing free church, nearby houses, park and also to popular main road to Leamington Spa. To minimise the disruption where possible we recycled material  ensuring less deliveries to site and by also having controled delivery periods outside busy times of the day reducing site traffic.
