Project Description
Our long term client, Benniman Construction, contracted us to work on the latest phase of the Prologis Park project in Wellingborough. The site is already home to a significant number of large industrial units built on previous phases and this latest addition, added a further 133,000 square feet of space.
M & T Midlands were awarded the major earthworks, groundworks and external works packages on the construction project in Northamptonshire. Having already completed a number of similar projects for Benniman, they knew that the project would be managed professionally and safely, when appointing M&T.
The specialist groundworks team got to work on the extensive clearance and bulk earthworks required to prepare the site for the next stages of the construction work. As with most projects, the timeline to completion was tight in order to accommodate the new tenants of the building. The scope of works included:
- Site clearance and bulk excavation across the site
- Soil stabilisation
- Foundation installation
- Drainage
- Concrete slabs
- Installation of services, kerbs, hard landscaping and completion of the external works.
As the project continued, the challenge to complete each stage on time was hampered by the poor autumnal weather, but the professionalism of the site team ensured that even if any time was lost, the commitment was evident to get back on track, minimising hold ups as the work progressed.
In addition, effective site management meant that while the steel erection phase was ongoing, groundworks around the site was getting underway to ensure that all aspects of the project were progressing towards completion.
